About
Born in Winter Park, Florida in 1981, Matt Beyrer is a contemporary American artist celebrated for his signature style, “Natural Expressionism” — a fusion of realism, surrealism, and the organic beauty of wood grain. His journey into art began unexpectedly after a shark bite left him recovering in bed, where he discovered Bob Ross and a lifelong passion for painting. Years later, a “happy accident” while staining wood frames revealed the potential of wood grain as part of the composition itself, sparking the technique that defines his work today.
Beyrer paints directly onto wood panels, letting the grain guide his landscapes, celestial scenes, and portraits. The natural patterns evoke movement in skies, depth in water, and emotion in light, blending classical technique with contemporary imagination. Now represented by Park West Gallery, his work has achieved international acclaim, with sold‑out auctions and collectors around the world.
