About
Slava Ilyayev is an Azerbaijani‑born Israeli artist known for his richly textured, emotionally vibrant landscapes created almost entirely with a palette knife. Born in 1970 in Baku, Azerbaijan, he immigrated to Israel in 1995 and studied at the Avni Institute of Art and Design in Tel Aviv. His distinctive style blends Post‑Impressionism and Fauvism, using thick layers of oil paint to build luminous scenes of tree‑lined paths, romantic strolls, and rain‑soaked reflections. Each piece is crafted in multiple stages, resulting in a sculptural surface that captures light and movement. Ilyayev’s work is exhibited and collected internationally, celebrated for its bold color, symbolic storytelling, and emotional resonance. He continues to live and teach in Tel Aviv, creating art that speaks to companionship, journey, and the beauty of everyday moments.
